NEWS
The Gurriers have just released their latest CD
"Kamikaze", the eagerly awaited follow up to their
well received debut "Kids On The Street".
The new four track e.p. blends elements of punk, rock,
ska and power pop, clearly demonstrating a collision
of influences and ideas in the band.
Already, "Kamikaze", is receiving a very positive
response from both media and fans alike following its
recent launch in Whelans, Dublin.
With considerable national airplay on 2FM and Today FM
from DJs such as Dan Hegarty, Alison Curtis, Cormac
Battle and Jenny Heuston, along with recent support
slots to international acts The Used and Good
Charlotte, The Gurriers have quickly gained a
reputation as an act on the up. They have also been
confirmed to play The New Band Stage at this years
Oxegen Festival on Saturday 9th July at Punchestown
Racecourse.
Following an Irish tour this Summer, the band will be
performing a number of shows in the UK followed by a
return to Germany for a number of dates in Berlin.
Upon their return to Ireland, they will return to the
studio to record their debut album due for release
early next year.
BRIEF BIOG.
The Gurriers comprise Declan Lawless on vocals and
guitar, Alan Markey on bass and vocals and Colin
Berrill on drums. This three-piece have been playing
together for a number of years but have only really
started to push themselves seriously in the past year
or so. Last summer the band played in Germany for the
first time at the prestigious Punk and Disorderly
Festival in Berlin, followed by other gigs elsewhere
in Germany. While there, the band received a huge
response from the crowds they played to and upon their
return home commenced work on what would become the
new "Kamikaze" CD.
The band's hard work paid off and, in November of last
year, they recorded their first 2FM session, which was
aired on the Dan Hegarty Show in December. This was
quickly followed by a support slot to The Used in the
Ambassador, Dublin, and more recently to Good
Charlotte in the Olympia. Recent articles in Hot Press
and various local papers nationwide have also helped
to increase the band's profile against the background
of the "Kamikaze" CD release.
